The Scalpel of Affliction

Sharing Options

Father, we are taught the true nature of our sinfulness by many means, but among those means we experience the scalpel of afflictions, as administered by Your wise and steady hand. We pray that as we confess our sins now, we will do so as those who have learned from this what we ought to have learned. We pray that the afflictions You are visiting upon our nations would teach us humility and wisdom.

We know, Father, that if we in the Church regard iniquity in our own midst, or in our own hearts, this prayer will be ineffectual.

We pray Father that as we in the church experience affliction along with our fellow countrymen that we will model for them what real and true repentance looks like.

And Father, we confess our private sins to You now—and Selah . . . We do this in the strong name of Jesus Christ, and amen.

You have confessed your sins and God will fulfill His promise to you. On the third day He will raise us up, and so I now declare that your sins are forgiven through Christ.

Congregation: Thanks be to God!
