Moby-Dick by Herman Melville
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This is one of the books I put on my “bucket book” list — books that I really ought to have read by this time in my life but, though my own miserable failings, had not. Any how, I finally got this one done. This is, simply put, a great book. Really enjoyed it.
Now you must visit Nantucket, see the whaling museum, and eat some chowder. Clam and cod.
what’s your bucket list? It’s a funny thing that even though I’m a reader, I find that my wife ‘s familiar with the book, and I’m more familiar with the movie.
I would really like to know Pastor Wilson’s thoughts on Jonathan Haidt’s The Righteous Mind.
I tried Moby a few years back. Never drew me in and it did not get finished.
Yes, the chapters and chapters on the various channels of whale lard were particularly illuminating. Or something.
I can’t believe that in my entire 35 years, I’d never had someone discuss the ending of Moby Dick. As one of the harder books I’ve read, and one that required an inordinate amount of diligence to finish, I’m not sure I would’ve tackled it knowing how it ended.
