Our Life

Sharing Options

You are the covenant people of God, and You have gathered in faith today around the declaration of God’s holy gospel, and in humble reliance on the means of grace which He has given. This is your life, and your only life.

What is our life?

We have no life in ourselves, and our life is union and communion with God through Christ.

Where is our life?

It is here, in the Church, outside of which there is no ordinary possibility of salvation.

When is our life?

It is now; today if you hear his voice, do not harden your heart as you did in the wilderness.

How is our life?

Gloriously, the mechanics of our salvation is none of our business, but God has told us enough to keep us from boasting in ourselves. And what He has told us is our only glory. The death of Jesus Christ, and His resurrection, is for us wisdom, redemption, and sanctification, and is the only salvation we can have, or ever will need.

Who is our life?

Our life is a person, the Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we come to God the Father in faith.

The Christian faith is a relationship, but it is not countless relationships. We are covenantally, corporately, collectively God’s daughter-in-law – we married His only Son. We worship Him together now. The Christian faith is not a series of abstractions – it is a covenant with the living God. Look in heartfelt worship to Him, not merely to those true things said about Him.
