You are accustomed now to all the liturgical changes we have made over the course of this last year. You must now be exhorted to remember the point of all such orders of worship. The fact that you know the order of events frees you to concentrate on worshiping the Lord Himself, just as learning the steps of a dance frees you to think about the enjoyment of dancing.
But Scripture also speaks of another option, one which attracts those who want to remain comfortable in sin — knowledge of the order of worship frees you to let your mind wander elsewhere. You are now equipped to be a good Pharisee, and worship God with your mouth, when your heart is far from Him. So as you come to worship Him now, remember that He sees the heart.
