It Is Gold Paint, Actually, Not Actual Gold

Sharing Options

Having gotten through what we all believe to have been one of the wildest political seasons ever, such that we are all checking our watches and starting to gather our stuff so that we might go, it suddenly dawns on us that the circus orchestra has only just finished the overture. There is a lot more coming.Trumpillary

Random observations befit a random year.

Watching Mike Pence stand solemnly behind Donald Trump as he renewed his thoughts on the Rafael Cruz/JFK thing, in which time he was also lauding the National Enquirer, made me think of possible thought-bubble contents over Pence’s head. My idea was, “All I have to do is get through this with a modicum of dignity, and without going to Hell.”

Julian Assange, Mr. Wikileaks, who had been sent to conservative Coventry some time ago, suddenly became a darling of the right by releasing about 20K DNC emails that had been hacked by some enterprising souls, and then released to a bemused public. Way to go, former enemy!

The Democrats say the Russians were behind it because they want to hurt Hillary and help Trump. And anyone can see at a glance that there really is a deep affinity between Putin and Trump. I mean, when Trump and Pence gave that 60 Minutes interview, did you see their golden throne chairs? We are talking Russian oligarchy here. Either that or a Disney-sponsored duplication of Versailles. Still, one detects a certain deep resonance of soul.

But consider the ironies involved, which are at least as bright and shiny as the gold chairs are. The Russians are accused of trying to influence an American election. And how did they propose to disrupt our normal way of doing things over here? The answer is obvious when you think about it. They determined that they would tell the truth. When something like that erupts in the middle of a presidential campaign, nobody knows where to look.

Ah, but don’t think this roller coaster ride is anywhere near being done. Polls say that Hillary is ahead, and other polls say that Trump is. But we await the next twisty turn with the same degree of expectancy shown by a kid standing on the curb waiting for the ice cream truck. Here are my political prognostications, which are admittedly tentative. The Russians will next release a boatload of State Department emails from Hillary’s private server, forcing her to hold a press conference denying that she should be indicted under the Espionage Act. During the presser, she will have some kind of seizure and be hustled off to the hospital. The next day, Donald Trump will have a heart attack, and be taken to a rival hospital across town. A press release war will then break out in which each hospital claims that their candidate is recovering more quickly. But because both of them are out of sight, the authorities will have to arrange for the vice-presidential debates to be held first. The Libertarians will have risen enough in the polls such that Weld will be included. Kaine and Pence will put everyone to sleep, and Weld will then reveal himself to be the twelfth imam. The crowd goes wild.

Entertainment ripe enough for 21st century America. Reality TV couldn’t get any better than this.

Don’t forget that back in 2012, the Republican nominee was telling everybody how bad Russia was, and getting lambasted for it by the Dems and their fawning ABCNNBCBS media.

For the sake of truth, you’re distorting your own link.

The ONLY thing the Democrats were mocking there was the idea that “Russia is our #1 geopolitical foe”. They would still mock that idea today, as would just about everyone else.

The ONLY thing the Democrats were mocking there was the idea that “Russia is our #1 geopolitical foe”. They would still mock that idea today, as would just about everyone else. Oh right. I forgot that all the pundits, when they responded to Romney, actually said things like You know, Romney’s probably stretching things a bit by saying Russia is our NUMBER ONE geopolitical foe, but he does make a good point that the Democrats seem to miss – that Russia is doing things that should cause us great concern. Romney, contra Obama, Hillary and virtually all of the left,… Read more »

There responses would only be like that if they had to deal with some sort of imaginary strawmen who thought Putin was a happy-cheery guy. I don’t remember a time when Russia WASN’T doing things that caused this administration concern, considering that very issue came up as far back as during Obama’s original presidential campaign. McCain was more confrontational towards Putin than Obama was, but they BOTH agreed that Bush had been too friendly with him, that Russia’s antagonism towards Georgia was wrong, and that the USA had to act in a united front with NATO to defend against Russian… Read more »

Blogosphere, please join me in writing the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Senate Armed Services committee and the Senate Intelligence committee, to confirm as a matter of statute, that HRC cannot be granted a future security clearance, based on her known “carelessness” with classified information. Hence, she is disqualified, and cannot be Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the USA.

Ha! It is all very strange and surreal. I keep saying, you have got to be kidding me. This must be satire or spoof, it cannot possibly be real life.

As to Putin, Putin is a Dem dog whistle. Several years ago Dems began hating on Putin, while the alt-right began praising him. Nobody really knows anything about Putin or even cares what he is all about, but he has become the mascot of tribal allegiances.

I hope y’all caught this bit from Trump’s speech the other night. A strict observance of the written law is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to the written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the ends to the means. We haven’t heard anything so sensible from… Read more »

Random thoughts would be more fitting if we lacked an explanatory framework for the way things are going. For all his brilliance and Biblical perspective, Doug doesn’t seem to have found a political one yet, but that doesn’t mean that not a one exists. In fact, while there are surely details that escape it’s reach, and while I do not appeal to it to do anything other than explain the political machinations, I would commend to everyone the work of Sundance over at The Conservative Treehouse. This article would be a good place to start in terms of understanding why… Read more »

What, no pony? In the hospital, it is revealed that Hillary is actually a robot that can’t be fixed because the inventor mysteriously died from eating too many pickled quail eggs. Meanwhile, Al Haig is re-animated to take charge of the situation but gets all zombie and starts eating politicians, with special preference for globalists. Escaping the hospital by tossing Trump dollars in the air, Trump meets Putin on a small South Pacific island to celebrate the demise of the democrat party and work on their plans to rule the world. Ted Cruz and Glenn Beck invest in a one… Read more »

Pastor Wilson, Some friends recently sent this along. I’m wondering—if you think it would do enough Christians good, and could do good in our land—if you would post an interaction with this piece from Wayne Grudem. It seems Grudem is overly optimistic, and does not adequately consider alternatives. I thought you could help many of us sort this out. http://townhall.com/columnists/waynegrudem/2016/07/28/why-voting-for-donald-trump-is-a-morally-good-choice-n2199564 Thanks, Jeff
