Three Elephant Ears and a Corn Dog

I am really excited about the release (today) of the DVD project for Notes From the Tilt-a-Whirl. I have seen different iterations of this over the course of the filming and editing, but just sat down to watch the final cut the night before last. This is theology that does what theology really ought to do — make you feel like you ate three elephant ears and a corn dog before getting on the Zipper. Okay, so you don’t usually use feelings of nausea as a point of comparison in five stars reviews. Okay. All I mean is that it makes you think outside the normal grooves. It focuses your attention. How’s that?

The camera work is gorgeous, the thinking is superb, and the message is desperately needed in the church today.

Make sure you watch the outtakes and the interview. Westminster Bookstore is a great place — given the economies of scale in the new digital world of ours — to get your copy. They are offering a major sale price for this release. If you already bought one elsewhere, this is a great price if you want to get a second one for a gift. And why wouldn’t you want to do that, hey?

Justin Taylor has a good round up of some of the reviews. You can go here for that.
