Christ Prays for You

The world is a perilous place, and we do not make it any safer by pretending. The sacred things of God are always accompanied by many warnings, but for the faithful, and rightly understood, these warnings only serve to strengthen our faith in Him.

The sovereign covenantal purposes of God are the only security we may ever have. And we do not have security through knowing the secret content of those purposes, but rather through having faith and trust in the one whose good counsels they are. Trust Him.

While Peter denied the Lord, just as Jesus had predicted, the fact remained that Jesus had prayed for him, and so he returned from his sin in humility and faith. The Bible teaches that Jesus Christ is our high priest, who ever lives to make intercession for us. Jesus Christ is praying for you, today. He knows us each by name, and He prays for His Church.

Take heart – though you stumble in many ways, though you are humiliated by your temptations and sins, though you have not done as you have resolved to do, take heart. Jesus Christ prays for you, and you hear this promise with gladness and faith.

But if the words fill you with repugnance or fear, then take heed. All twelve of the disciples were scattered, but only eleven returned. That is a glorious majority, but such majorities are no comfort to the one. And remember that those who returned did so because Christ prayed for them. And Christ prays for you. So come, take and eat.
