Wow. Quite a thought. God is the only appropriate object of worship. Its not that I havent thought of idolatry as wrong in the past. Its just that now it seems improper and just completely bass-ackwards. Like trying to look at something with your eyes closed or go swimming in an empty pool. The only thing that makes any sense to worship – intellectual sense – is God. Anything else is improper, not fitting, pointless. Wrong? Yes. But also completely insane. That’s an interesting case of refusing to see the obvious. Surely the man had heard of drug addiction, of laziness in providing for oneself, of a hateful attitude that alienates loved ones and leaves one bitter and lonely. He cannot have lived to adulthood without seeing that. Yet he thinks it impossible.
He was a college kid. What can I say? American college kids demand free college, healthcare, and guaranteed jobs. Logic is not the strong suit of youth.
Imagine a world more sane than ours.
Not just sanity saturating everyone there, but love also — love of each other & love of God.
And really knowing each other & Him, too.
Comes into the picture then a mean, but completely sane purpose — self-destructive, yes, but makes total sense — burn that world and everything and everyone in it.
