Let me ask all our friends to thank the Lord together with us. In the mail today we got word back from the State Board of Tax Appeals, as did Logos School and New St. Andrews College. The state board decided in our favor all along the waterfront. I assume they also did the same for Community Christian Ministries, but I have not gotten word on that directly. Latah County had decided in favor of Logos and CCM, but our adversaries had appealed that decision. Latah County had decided against Christ Church and NSA, and we had appealed that decision. This decision today from the state board means that Idaho has upheld the favorable decision in our favor, and reversed the negative decisions against us. What this decision means practically is that non-profit organizations can rent out a portion of their square footage to another organization, and can pay a tax apportioned to the square footage rented out. At NSA, a portion of our building is leased to a restaurant (“West of Paris,” opening later this summer). A tax will be paid on the square footage of the restaurant only, instead of making the entire building liable to taxation (as our adversaries wanted). Christ Church rents out 8% of our building space to the Association of Classical Christian Schools, and we will pay tax on that 8% only. A common sense solution for common sense people. We thank the Lord, of course, and we also extend our thanks to the State Board of Tax Appeals. This is a clean sweep, and Lord willing, it should close this chapter in the saga of petty harassments.
