Today is the anniversary of Charlie Kirk’s promotion to glory, and I can’t let the day pass without saying something for the moment. When I think of Charlie’s gifted and dogged affability, it is no mystery to me that the enemies of God would want to take him out. What remains a mystery to them, however, is how the power of God is made manifest right in the middle of the worst they can do.
The point was not just that bullet would take Charlie’s life . . . they also had follow up reactions in reserve, including all the Candace chaos. But the murder, and the chaos, and the lies, and the gloating, and the unvarnished envy, all serve to show just how important Charlie was. And, returning to the point about God’s sovereignty being unveiled in the midst of the worst they can do, it also demonstrates just how important Charlie continues to be. Look at how much effort they are still expending on him. But the God. of battles laughs in derision, and we are consoled with a triumphant sorrow.
When I think of the many lessons that Charlie lived out for us, I think that there is one that stands out, at least for this moment. It is summed up in an apt quote from Thomas Sowell . . . “It’s amazing how much panic one honest man can spread among a multitude of hypocrites.”
