“The real reformer has a real advantage, but one which he rarely recognizes himself as having. Living in the world that actually exists is an enormous advantage. There are times when it almost seems to me like cheating or something. In the long run, we need not worry. In the long run, blind stupidity never works. Far more likely is continued decline and collapse. Christians should prepare themselves spiritually, mentally, and materially for this contingency.
We are certainly ripe for the next phase of God’s judgement, which could be catastrophic, but we do live in a world where national repentance does occur. Evidently God likes things to get really bad before they get better. He’s the master storyteller but he keeps using trite and hackneyed plot devices. You hear that lefties? You’re God’s trite and hackneyed plot devices! So are we, of course. Prodigal sons, fallen women, yada, yada. I hope we don’t die in this scene.
