The province of Victoria in Australia passed a “Racial and Religious Tolerance Act,” which now looks to end in what happening? You guessed it — several evangelical teachers going to jail. A judge has ordered these two Christians to apologize for comments they made in a seminar on Islam or face some jail time. Check out the future of tolerance here.
One of our local Intoleristas offered a protest to some of my comments in a letter to the editor to the effect that I am being paranoid. “Who wants to run you out of town?” was the gist. Two points might be helpful. First, a logic lesson — just because you are paranoid doesn’t mean they are not after you. For the humorless out there (and alas, among our Intolerista foes, they are legion), this first point was not really a point, but rather a joke.
Second, it astounds me that someone can write a letter to the editor like this when hundreds of people this last week watched a video presentation at the Kenworthy Theater, which included in it a bundle of protesters in Moscow chanting, “Hey, hey, ho, ho, racist Wilson has got to go.” Go where? Then there was a full page ad that was signed by a bunch of diversity-challenged people which ran along these lines: “Not In Our Town.” What not in our town? Who not in our town? Was all this a misunderstanding? Were they just trying to get me to move in closer to the center of town? My apologies for all this needless controversy.
Seriously, pray for these stalwart Christians in Australia. They have run afoul of the sham diversity cops in a serious way. The Intoleristas have not a clue when it comes to issues of self-awareness. Their ignorance of what they are actually doing to actual dissent is nirvanic in scope, blissful and serene. They pass laws that have the word Tolerance in the name of the law itself, and then they use that law to threaten men with jail for simply articulating the historic Christian position on the rival faith of Islam. This kind of thing is only possible when all you ever do is hydro-plane around on the surface of your own cliches, letting your fingers lightly graze the surface of the water. They are the tolerant ones, by stinking definition, and those who differ with them in any basic respect need not be heeded at all. And why do they reject all “intolerant” dissent? Because it is not necessary to listen to anyone who is filled with hate. And hatred is a necessary characteristic of anyone who differs with the vision of the anointed. One follows their reasoning of course. People who differ with them are obviously seething with all kinds of hatreds. George Orwell would have had their number in about fifteen seconds. But if Orwell were around today, he too would be dismissed as a hater, and the remarkable book he actually wrote a generation ago would be pitched down the memory hole as unedifying in the extreme.
