The problem is, it’s less than clear what exactly it is that conservatives are trying to conserve. And I’m not sure conservatives agree among themselves on the answer to that question.

I wanted to leave this comment on the marriage pledge post, but comments were closed. But this post is relevant, because I have a secular parachute that will save marriage: I think there is enough support in Congress to end same-sex marriage in every state right now. Obama would probably sign the Natural Marriage and Reproduction Act because the next President surely will. No state should allow same-sex couples to attempt to create genetic offspring together (or transgender individuals to attempt it as their non birth sex), and no state should strip procreation rights from marriage.
