“The Muslims are coming after the values of our hollow secularism, and watching it is not like watching an actual contest—it is like watching someone take a jackhammer to a soufflé” (Empires of Dirt, p. 57).

Somebody “google” soufflé!
It’s a French, therefore delicate and weak, dish.
I see what you did there…not choosing Kuchen in the illustration.

Looks like Doug’s tech team isn’t very good at checking the “no comments allowed” box. ;)

Since at some point Doug’s tech team will check “no comments allowed.” Here’s my last suggestion to move commenting over to Facebook. Doug should try to remember to share his blog posts to Facebook, so that the commenters here can migrate our discussions over to Facebook.
Oh, please no. I avoid the Book Face like the plague. Not even the venerable Mr. Wilson (Tool Time/ Home Improvement Reference) would move me to that forum…
Okay, everybody, settle down. The comments should be turned off for the next one. This was a pre-scheduled post that slipped through. And anyhow, we may do “open thread” on the weekly letters post. We’ll see how it goes.
No worries. Much to Ron’s chagrin over the “Book Face,” as he refers to it, if the blog isn’t gonna have comments, the Facebook is probably the best place to migrate the discussion to on a daily basis (except for the days of the week where the Faithful Proprietor may, potentially do a weekly “open thread”).

If doug doesn’t appreciate the commentary attached to his article here, I doubt he would like a scrum on his Facebook page.

Just razzing you, Doug!

Could you set up Faithbook instead?
