“’Western values’ as an appeal works only if it is a coded reference to Christendom, and that only works if Christ is still there . . . Anything else is a couple of dogs fighting over a piece of meat” (Empires of Dirt, p. 54).

Agree. Though I would say that the West is Christendom to a large extent. Yes we have added godless aspects such as the Enlightenment (which is anything but), materialist forms of Modernism, and the (mostly) nonsensical Postmodernism.
Christianity came into Europe and changed the culture. So European values after 1500 years of Christianity are vastly different than before its arrival. While all cultures have their good and bad points (Westernism included), they are not all equal nor are the all equally right and equally wrong. Western values are vastly more right than the cultures of the Aztecs and Papuans.
Anybody who goes West eventually passes through the East and returns to the West again. Before reading this book, I want clarity:
What is “radical Islam” according to the author?
Does the author treat “radical Islam” as costumed imposters?
or
Does the author toe the MSM propaganda boogey-man line?
” … Christendom, and that only works if Christ is still there ….”
Christendom only “works” if Christ was *-EVER-* there.
