If I hadn’t already read it, I would want somebody to give me this book for my birthday, which is coming up.
If you are a normie conservative Christian, scratching your head over what is happening to the country you grew up in, this is a book with enormous explanatory power. For those believers who are wondering what the heck is going on, and it appears to me that their number is burgeoning, this is a book that will explain to them fully what the hell is going on.
And, with a hat tip to C.S. Lewis, no, that was not frivolous swearing.
There was a time in the recent past when our liberal democracy was making its total claims, but they were doing so surreptitiously. They wanted at least for a time to keep up the appearances inherited from the older order. But it now appears that they are making their move, and they don’t really care anymore how it looks. The naked rejection of multiple legal norms in the recent conviction of Trump should be sufficient evidence of that.
Many conservative believers are now fully aware of the fact that something is radically off. They know that much. What they do not know is the internal logic of the thing. How did this happen? How did we get here?
This book is relatively short. It is clearly written. It is potent. If you have any question marks floating above your head at all, and if you love your country, you need to buy and read this one.
