Minister: Lift up your hearts!
Congregation: We lift them up to the Lord!
In the Lord I trust,
How can you talk to my soul like that?
How can you taunt, saying,
“Fly like a bird
To your mountain home?”
The wicked limber up their bow,
They set the arrow on the string,
To shoot from an ambush
At the upright in heart.
When foundations are destroyed,
What can the righteous do?
How can the righteous build?
The Lord is in His temple now,
His holy temple is secure.
The Lord is throned above the skies,
His eyes behold,
His eyelids try
The hearts of all the children of men.
The Lord tests the righteous,
But hates the one who violence loves.
Upon the wicked a tempest rains;
His skies open
And snares and fire and brimstone fall.
That is the portion of their cup.
The Lord loves righteousness
For the sake of the righteous;
His countenance beholds with love
The upright in heart,
The upright in soul.
Psalm 11
And so, gracious Father, we worship You now through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end, amen.
