Introduction

So it appears that Israel will be throwing a huge sodomy bash at the Dead Sea, near the site of the lately-departed Sodom and Gomorrah, thus setting forth a grim exemplar of insolence history month. And it was not just a privately organized thing either—the government of Israel is behind it, promoting and pushing the event. And when I saw the story on Not the Bee, I tweeted the following:

Now there were numerous responses to this tweet of mine, and alas, many of them were regrettably predictable. And what do you think I might mean by that? Given my previous support for Israel in various and sundry ways, some people thought that they had detected a high levels of inconsistency.

There were quite a few comments along the lines of . . . “careful, Doug, you might be accused of antisemitism here” . . . “Yet you support this apostate nation . . .”. . . “it’s about time you called out the evil Israeli influence on this country, clearly Jews are bad!” . . . “Yes, we are glad to see a comment like this, especially in light of your recent conduct where you seem to be far too willing to throw away 50 years of faithful ministry to shill for Israel” . . . “This is what you broke with brothers for. Hedonistic degeneracy for your Christ-denying in-laws” . . .

And yes, I do have Jewish relatives, but they are Christians. “Christ-denying in-laws,” forsooth. This is yet more evidence that once you fall into the tar pit of Jew monomania, Christ becomes an irrelevance.

You know, this is the kind of thing that makes me almost embarrassed to be white. Not quite, but my steps had well nigh slipped, if you know what I mean (Ps. 73:1-12). I have seen fuzzy thinkers and the blurry-minded in great power throughout the online comments, and spreading themselves like a green bay tree (Ps. 37:35-36). But I remembered myself when I came to the Temple, whence I thought to beseech the Lord. Nay. Not all white people fall into fundamental category crevices.

These observations of theirs—on this and all related issues—look like a watercolor by a near-sighted impressionist painter, who left it there on his easel when he went in for lunch, not realizing that it was going to rain pretty hard. I fail to find the smudge compelling.

Some Actual Categories

Work with me here because I need to make a series of distinctions that have somehow gone missing.

Two things can be true at the same time. The Israelites of old could be fully deserving of God’s wrath, visited upon them through the Assyrians (Is. 10:5-6), while at the same time we can see that God declared He was going to punish the Assyrians for their conceited pride (Is. 10: 12, 15). The instrument of His judgment was also under judgment.

The point of my tweet was that God could decide to destroy modern Israel with a giant fireball from Heaven on account of this festival-by-the-Dead-Sea, and there would be no injustice done. That is true enough, and amen, and it is equally true that Iran’s hatred of Israel is irrational and wicked. Israel has every right to have an Iron Dome, and to shoot down every Iranian rocket that comes at them. Israel has no right, not to mention no ability, to shield themselves from the wrath of a holy God. In a conflict between Iran and Israel, I am with Israel. In a conflict between Israel and Jehovah, a conflict that would be evidenced by the fireball, I am with Jehovah. That’s one thing—and pretty straightforward, it seems to me.

Jeremiah can spend a good portion of his book outlining the reasons why God’s visitation of judgment on Israel by Babylon would be holy, righteous, and good. He can also write another book, Lamentations, grieving over the whole thing. Only a simpleton could think that Jeremiah was contradicting himself.

But my interlocutors still want to sneer at me. If I grant that such a giant fireball would be just, then why am I out there “shilling” for Israel? Why give the time of day to such a wretched country? I will give you another excellent reason . . . one that helps us to make yet another much needed qualification. We are also just such a wretched country. A giant fireball could consume every major American city and, surprise, also no injustice done. If a medium-sized asteroid landed on every place in America that has hosted an out-and-arrogant pride event, with an impotent and quiescent church watching, what would this do to your property values? You know, because it would be right near where you live. Like Jerusalem is near the Dead Sea.

I can love Israel despite her apostasy the same way that I love America, despite her apostasy.

And here is another place where it is needful to rebuke the peculiar forms of blurry vision that Jew-hate always induces. It is thought that they are having this huge sodomy-fest by the Dead Sea because they are Jews—so kill them all, and let God sort it out. We, on the other hand, have all our sodomy-celebrations here in America in spite of the fact that we are Americans. That is because these armchair bigots believe in the essential goodness of the American people, which is pretty convenient, and that we are a people who have been temporarily led astray into the sodomy stuff by, you guessed it, the Jews.

When they give Americans this most gracious carve-out, they are secretly using this as a proxy for white Americans. But if the Bible is to be believed—as I have repeatedly asserted elsewhere that it must be—there is one place where we must acknowledge a true ethnic equality. It doesn’t matter if we are talking about blacks or whites, or Asians, or Laplanders, or Jews, or Navajo, or Russians and Poles, or Arabs and Italians . . . no matter what, the heart of every man is black, as black as the inside of the devil’s coal scuttle.

How do you think this rationalization would fly on the Day of Judgment? “The Jews that thou didst give us, Lord, they did give unto us the pride parade permit and we did gyrate.”

You might want to defend yourself from this charge of double standards—even though you dwell in a country that is just as secular and wicked as Israel is being—by saying that you personally object to all the homo-stuff here in America. You protest it, you stand against it. You don’t like it. I see. And are there no Jews who object to the homo-stuff? There most certainly are, and you need to get out more. You nevertheless lump them in with the gayim just because they are Jews.

Very well, then. I will lump you in with the gay policies of San Francisco just because you are Californian. And with the gay policies of Manhattan just because you are a New Yorker. And with the gay policies of Minneapolis just because you are a Minnesotan. Stop whining, man. Stop making excuses. The judgment with which you judge you shall be judged (Matt. 7:1-2). You must think this method of assessment is entirely fair because it is the measure that you apply to everybody else.

“Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.”

Romans 2:1 (KJV)

At least that’s how God says He is going to approach it. Suppose there were an invisible recording device that is hanging around your neck. Every moral judgment you apply to the Jews will be recorded, distilled, and translated into a moral code . . . with your favorite identities subbed in for the noun Jew. Then you and your identity will be judged accordingly. How will it fare with you?

Conservatives Without the Jew Bug

In the broader conservative Christian world, there is widespread political support for Israel. There are many historical reasons for this, from Christian Zionism to hawkishness on Islam, and it would be beside the point to go into the reasons for that support right now. I bring it up simply to note that such widespread support exists. I do this because I want to make a separate point, a much simpler one. The point is this—this Christian political support for Israel, for whatever reason, did not force these “standard-issue” Christians into supporting or excusing the typological atrocity of holding a pride festival near the ruins of Sodom.

Friends of Israel are often accused of “idolizing” Israel, a sin of placing her interests ahead of the plain teaching of the Scriptures. Well, here is plain evidence to the contrary.

In my tweet, I linked to the story as it was posted on Not the Bee—that seething hot bed of philo-semitism. And their comments included the following: “Some lessons just never seemed to be learned.” “Looks like the stiff-necked descendants of Jacob are wandering off to cause themselves more trouble!” And what does all this mean? It means that all genuine Christians recoil from the kind of insolence that holds a pride festival in the first place, and then compounds the insult to Heaven by scheduling it right near Ground Zero. The organizers of this debauch did it this way because they wanted to make sure Jehovah saw the “Kick Me” sign they taped on their collective back.

And as a side comment, quite apart from the genuine repentance that is needed here, Netanyahu needs to understand that this festival—when it comes to the practical issue of not wanting any erosion of support among American Christians, a support that is already under concerted attack—is right up there with the IDF soldier smashing the Jesus icon. But that is a practical PR consideration, and however significant on its own level, it is not the same thing as repentance. I merely mention it.

“And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly”

2 Peter 2:6 (NKJV)

“Making them an example.” To whom? To those who afterward—that would include us, by the way, here in the 21st century. It is an example to those who would live ungodly—and that would include everyone who wants to go to this damned festival. So the warning from the apostle Peter includes every form of arrogance, whether swathed in rainbows or not.

Now I know that some critics will say that I am “without the Jew bug” simply because I am a boomer. I could take this as a generational compliment, meaning that boomers are particularly good at rejecting rancid ethnic hot takes, but I don’t think that’s what they mean, and I don’t think it is true anyhow. I learned how to read and apply the Scriptures from my father, who wasn’t a boomer, and my sons and grandsons are standing with me in the city gates, and they aren’t boomers either. So we should look for other possibilities (Prov. 30:11-13).

Didn’t Want Them to Go

Now returning to my broader point, there is a deeply rooted false binary that has gotten into the modern Christian mind.

It is assumed that if you love a people, you must not believe them to be under judgment. And if you believe them to be under judgment, you cannot love them. This assumption is fundamentally humanistic. But tell it to Jeremiah (Jer. 8:21-9:1). Tell that to the apostle Paul (Rom. 9:1-3).

Every faithful Christian knows and understands that it is possible to love an object of wrath. God did it in the cross (Rom. 5:8), and we do it whenever we love our enemies as we are plainly instructed to (Matt. 5:44).

A story is told of a very conservative Methodist congregation up in the hills of Appalachia. They were very conservative, still believing in things like the day of Judgment and Hell. So a day came when they lost their elderly pastor, and so they wrote to the bishop, asking him to appoint a new pastor—but they specifically requested a hellfire-and-brimstone preacher. The bishop didn’t have too many of those anymore, but he rummaged and found one. He sent him up there, but he only lasted three weeks. They repeated their request, and the bishop conducted a more thorough search, found a second hellfire-breather, and sent him up. He only lasted two weeks. The bishop was near the bottom of the barrel now, but finally found a third preacher from that school of thought, and sent him. This third minister had a long and fruitful ministry there, lasting over thirty years. This greatly puzzled the bishop and so, after about thirty years, when he ran into a old-timer from that church at a conference, he asked him about it. They were all hellfire preachers. Why did the first two not make the cut, and the third one has been there for thirty years? “Oh,” said the old-timer, “that is simple enough. The third one sounded like he didn’t want us to go.”

If I am right about Paul’s prophecy in Romans 11—as I believe I am—and a massive number of Jews turn to Christ, in that day there will be a large number of Jew-bug bros staring at the spectacle, kind of like Jonah glaring at the still-standing walls of Nineveh. Not the ending they were hoping for. They will be far more peeved than pleased. But at this point I need to state something for the record, seeing as I am in the middle of a diatribe against double standards. I need to include myself in this. If any of these misguided brothers turn from the wickedness of their Jew obsession, I will be far more pleased than peeved. They are not my Nineveh.

The Day of the Lord & the Steamroller of Justice

“Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations.”

Ezekiel 16:2 (KJV)

Now if we look straight at the spiritual impudence that lies underneath this Dead Sea business, it is manifestly obvious that Israel is in no way ready for the Day of the Lord. That is quite true. Right . . . but what on earth makes you think America is ready for it?

You see that Israel is doing this insolent thing, and you tell people that the problem is that they are Christ-less. Yes, they are Christ-less, sure enough, and that fact is clearly on display in their behavior here. But what about America? “For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more” (Luke 12:48). We had Christ in the Founding, we had Christ in our heritage, we had Christ in our early leaders, we had Christ in our cultural consensus, we had Christ in our rule of law, we had Christ in our institutions, we had centuries of honoring Christ, and we had Christ in our churches. So where did all our rainbow events come from then?

And don’t give me any of that “from the Jews” business. You guys think that when the Jews commit an abomination, it is clearly the Jews. And then when the goyim give themselves over to abominations . . . why, it is the Jews again! Man, they sure do get around. “Mom, the Jews made me look at porn again!”

Sinners under judgment naturally look for a scapegoat, and in their sin they naturally recoil from the one authorized Scapegoat that God graciously provided for the entire world. And ironically enough, He was a Jew. But however much they flail in search of someone else to blame, the fact of impending judgment still hovers over them. The steamroller of justice is coming at every man who sins, and this includes every man who twists and bends around in order to blame others for his sin.

The infidel wants to sneer and tell me to prove it, but all I need to do is refer the case back to his own conscience. He knows. The one whose wrath is being visited on all the neo-Sodomites is the same one whose divine power and majesty have been clearly seen through the things that have been made. You can stand by the banks of the Dead Sea at night, look up at the sky, and see a testimony of holiness spread across the sky. Then you look down, across all those festival tents of yours, and all you can see is grotesque unholiness. Then, under your feet, you can hear the crunching sound of an incinerated unholiness, the cinders of something that used to be unholy, but which is all gone now.

“Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?”

Ezekiel 18:31 (KJV)

God knows how to fill His courts with the slain (Eze. 9:10). He tells Ezekiel to dig into the Temple walls, and inside those walls he finds every creeping thing (Eze. 8:10). God sees what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark (Eze. 8:12). The party-goers by the Sea thought they were praying to the sun (Eze. 8:16), but it was only the fireball getting bigger. Not the sun at all.

And if one of the “based” Christian types hastens to remind me that the Christian church is the new Israel, I quite agree. So I would add that God sees what the leaders of the new Israel have been doing in the dark too (Eze. 8:12). There is a reason why far too many on the Christian right cannot see the Jewish iniquity rightly, and it is because they have a beam in their own eye (Matt. 7:5).

“How long will ye imagine mischief against a man? Ye shall be slain all of you: As a bowing wall shall ye be, and as a tottering fence.”

Psalm 62:3 (KJV)

“Therefore will I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them.”

Ezekiel 8:18 (KJV)

“And as for me also, mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity, but I will recompense their way upon their head.”

Ezekiel 9:10 (KJV)

We must all appear before the judgment seat of God. I really don’t think that will be an occasion for jostling together, jockeying for position as we point accusing fingers at other people. It won’t be like that at all. Something else will be on our minds.

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”

2 Corinthians 5:10 (KJV)

Everyone else’s sins will be forgotten in that Day. The only hope that anyone will have will be if their own sins are forgotten—and the only provision for such divine forgetfulness will be the blood of the one who sits on that judgment seat.

Whatever kind of pride it is then, whether white pride, or homo-pride, or Jew pride, just remember, as a prophet one of your own has said, “God’s gonna cut you down.”
