This last Thursday night, Nancy and I went to the first showing of Super 8 here in Moscow, just after midnight, so I guess you would say it was actually Friday. We did not do this because we are such avid moviegoers as a general rule, but rather because the lead role in the movie was held down by Joel Courtney, a young man in our church. He did a stellar job, and we are all really proud of him. We really enjoyed ourselves. The train wreck scene did a stellar job also.
The box office receipts came in really strong for the opening weekend, just south of 40 million thus far, making this the number one movie in the country. Does this make Joel a superstar? No, no . . . he’s a super8star.
That’s Joel there in the foreground, if you are one of the relative handful around the country who don’t know what he looks like by now.
