Glorious, but awful in parts. Finished it again in 2016, and it is still the same. Lewis has an uncanny ability to edify me and appall me simultaneously.

Totally agree. I loved this book and hated it at the same time.
I find this to be true of many of Lewis’ writings. The Problem of Pain, and Emeth from The Last Battle come quickly to mind.
