Review: Eve in Exile and the Restoration of Femininity

Eve in Exile and the Restoration of Femininity
Eve in Exile and the Restoration of Femininity by Rebekah Merkle
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I read portions of this in manuscript, but have been working away at the final version since it came out. And it is, of course, fantastic. Now one of you will say to me that I am rating it this way because it was written by my daughter. But the fact that Bekah wrote this does not make me rate it this way. It would be fantastic (and greatly needed) regardless.

This book will be a great encouragement to women who want to think, live, and adorn biblically. I recommend it particularly to girls in high school and college — a great time to get your thinking straight on these issues.

Just superb. I lent it to my daughter who thought it was excellent and she has asked me to buy a few copies for her to give to her girlfriends.

It is not that she is you daughter as in nepotism it is that she is most likely to have written something that parrots you understanding of Scripture on this subject.

Parrots seems like a rather harsh word. Since she’s an adult, married woman with a family and a good bit of life experience under her belt by now, “Agrees with” might be fairer.

not trying to be harsh

The fact that she’s his daughter, that she was raised in this theology, and that she still agrees with it as an adult, says a lot. And all of it good.

Scared that waiting until my daughter is in high school will be too risky — is this an appropriate read for 10 year olds, or what else of similar make comes to mind?
