The Logos Benefit Concert is this evening, and I am now in a position to announce that the first chord played this evening will be D Major. But do not fret — there will be plenty more of them throughout the course of the evening. Actually, the guitar players need to fret, otherwise there won’t be, but I am already starting to disgress.

From the beginning our  goal for this concert has been two-fold. The first has been to raise a goodly bit of money for Logos School, and the other has been to have a rollicking good time. Thus far, the first goal has already been met — we are very grateful for all those who donated money and time, as well as goods to be auctioned. The items remaining  up for auction include a couple of snowmobiles, a baby grand piano, and signed caricatures of the members of the band. Check out the web site here for more details, and the auction will be wrapped up this evening.

Update: the concert will be streamed live from this web address, and when you go to the web site at the time of the concert, the first thing you will see is the screen for the show.

Our second goal has already been met by those involved in the practices, and we hope that those who attend the concert will have the same kind of fun that we have had. Speaking of enjoying the music, I should say a brief word about decibel levels. We trust the bulk of the concert will be well within everybody’s comfort zone, but there are a couple of songs that do have a tendency to fill up the room.  I am thinking of Simple Man and Freebird, so if anyone has difficulty with these songs, I would recommend that you just go out to your car during those songs, and enjoy them from there.

I would like to thank Clint and Lisa Hughes for their dedication to the school, and for their zeal in making this event happen. And there have been numerous volunteers — from the ad hoc choir, to the do-wop singers, to the non-guitar strings, to the members of the band, and many, many others. On behalf of Logos School, we thank you all.

And of course, we thank the Lord, and hope to see you tonight.
