“At thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore” (Ps. 16: 11)
Growing Dominion, Part 35
Jesus teaches us that if we are faithful in little, we will be able to be faithful over much (Luke 19:17). Someone who was a slouch as a teen-ager with his paper route is likely to be a slouch when he owns his own business as an adult. This does not mean that we can never repent, but it does mean that repentance is needed in order to deal with certain habit patterns we have established in our lives.
Too often we want additional responsibilities (that come with things like marriage, or ownership of a business) to change what we are when in fact they usually just amplify what we are. Change involves changing internally, and is a work of God. It is not just a matter of rearranging the external furniture.
Little blame-shifters become big blame-shifters. Little disorganized people become big disorganized people. Little lazybones become big lazybones. One of the hardest things for us to grasp is the fact that change means change.
