Denomination Blues – Jenny Gedddes Band | Bucers in Moscow, Idaho from Daniel Foucachon on Vimeo.
The sound is just a tad muddy, so here are the lyrics . . .
Denomination Blues
Now let me tell you people it’s a natural fact
No man reads the Bible alike and that’s all, I tell you that’s all
You got to have Jesus and that’s all.
Denominations have no right to fight
They ought to go on and treat each other right, I tell you that’s all
You got to have Jesus and that’s all.
It’s hard to find a Presbyterian on his knees
He too busy dotting his i’s and crossing his t’s, I tell you that’s all
You got to have Jesus and that’s all.
The Nazarene say drinking is a crime
But I know a Nazarene who turned water into wine, I tell you that’s all
You got to have Jesus and that’s all.
The Catholic’s say the pope is never wrong
But brother Martin Luther sang a different song, I tell you that’s all
You got to have Jesus and that’s all.
The Frisbyterian walking around with a frown
Because his soul’s on the roof and he can’t get it down, I tell you that’s all
You got to have Jesus and that’s all.
The Unitarian’s you know he’s cutting it close
You can say he believes in one God at the most, I tell you that’s all
You got to have Jesus and that’s all.
The primitive Baptists they believe
That you can’t get to heaven unless you wash your feet, and that’s all
I tell you that’s all
You got to have Jesus and that’s all.
The African Methodists they believe the same
Cause no denomination ain’t a thing but a name, and that’s all
I tell you that’s all
You got to have Jesus and that’s all.
You can go to your college, you can go to your school
If you ain’t got Jesus, you’re an educated fool, and that’s all
I tell you that’s all
You got to have Jesus and that’s all.
