No Perplexity At All

We know that when we sit down to partake of this meal, we are partaking of our forgiveness. The broken body and blood of Christ are the meal, and our resurrected and forgiving Lord is seated at the head of the Table. We also know that when we partake of this meal we are partaking of our deliverance from all our afflictions. We are fellowshipping with the one who delivers.communion20elements20-20dickow

But we are also sitting down to eat and drink with our answers. All of us here have sins to be forgiven, and we all have afflictions to be lifted. But it is also the case that we all have our perplexities.

An affliction is a trouble where you see no way out. A perplexity is when you know there is a way out, or perhaps many ways out, but you don’t know what they are or how to discover them. You don’t know what to do.

Many Christians in such straits pray earnest to discover God’s will, as though He would send you a text or an email. “Here, do this.” But that is not how it works. That is not how God guides you through your perplexities.

There are many aspects to this, but the first thing is for you to sit down and have true fellowship with one who knows your situation perfectly, and who is not perplexed at all. He knows exactly what to do. And because you have come to be with Him you may have every assurance that He was already with you.

Whatever your perplexity, you are in it together, and the one who is with you—and you know He is with you for you just shared a meal together—knows everything that can be known about that perplexity. And for Him, it is no perplexity at all.

So come, and welcome, to Jesus Christ.
