Minister: Lift up your hearts!
Congregation: We lift them up to the Lord!
How long are You going to forget me?
You are eternal;
Is Your forgetfulness the same?
How long do You intend to hide Your face?
How long will I have to counsel myself?
Communing with nothing but my own sorrow?
How long will my enemy puff out his cheeks?
Consider, Lord, give light to my eyes
Lest darkness close my eyes for good,
And I sleep the sleep of death.
If You don’t rise, oh Lord and God,
If You refuse to intervene,
My enemy will boast and brag,
And say he has prevailed.
Those who frustrate me will all rejoice.
But I trust in Your mercy, I trust in Your grace,
My heart will rejoice
If You stir and listen.
I will sing Your praises, for all of Your grace.
And so, gracious Father, we worship You now through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end, amen.
