Our Father and God, You have established Your Church as a royal priesthood in this world, and so we intercede for the nations of men now, confessing on their behalf so that the grace of Your forgiveness will soon be extended to them all.
Our Father and God, we pray to You now from the heartland of America, this rebellious house. We have wanted our prophets to do anything but prophesy, and we have wanted our seers to be blind. And Father, you have granted our request and sent leanness to our souls. We are Your people and we lament how we have wandered. Hear our prayer of confession on behalf of our stiff-necked people, and their representatives.
We know, Father, that if we in the Church regard iniquity in our own midst, or in our own hearts, this prayer will be ineffectual.
And so, Father, we confess that we have too often supplied the mute prophets and the blind seers. We have contributed baptized and ordained liars to tell the people that there is peace when there is no peace. Restore and reform Your church, we pray.
And we now confess our particular sins to You—Selah . . . We do this in the strong name of Jesus, and amen.
You have confessed your sins. God promises forgiveness, and part of your experience of that forgiveness is the blessing of being able to see and hear your teachers. Know now that your sins are forgiven through Christ.
Congregation: Thanks be to God!
