Reduced to Grazing

Sharing Options

Our Father and God, You have established Your Church as a royal priesthood in this world, and so we intercede for the nations of men now, confessing on their behalf so that the grace of Your forgiveness will soon be extended to them all.

Our Father God, we confess to You that our rulers have assumed to themselves the right to define what marriage is, and what it is not. In doing this, we are not confessing a sexual sin, but rather the sin of high rebellion with sex and marriage as its mere instrument. We confess that in our impudence we are declaring our independence from sanity, and without repentance we will soon be like Nebuchadnezzar, when he was reduced to grazing in the field.

We know, Father, that if we regard iniquity in our own midst, or in our own hearts, this prayer will be ineffectual

. And so, Father, we confess that we in the Church have too often failed to model what You are like in our own marriages and families.

And here Father, we confess our sins to You silently now—and Selah . . . We do this in the great and good name of our Lord Jesus, and amen.

The world will be put right when the Church is put right, and the Church will be put right when you are put right. So rejoice in the time of God’s favor, for you have honestly confessed your sins, and as the Lord’s minister I declare to you that your sins are forgiven through Christ.

Congregation: Thanks be to God!
