Our Lord and God, we come to You now in the great and powerful name of Jesus. We praise Your holy name through Him, and we ask You to accept our thanksgiving on the same basis. We know that we are anemic in our ability to celebrate and rejoice, and so we ask You to take this meal and use it to strengthen us for worship tomorrow. We need Your grace and kindness every day, because left to our own devices for ten minutes we resort to some sort of Pharisaism or other. Purge us of this we pray, and use the food and wine, the bread and butter, the fellowship and the laughter to do it. We pray for all this in Jesus’ name, and amen.
