Minister: Lift up your hearts!
Congregation: We lift them up to the Lord!
The one who dwells in the secret place,
The secret place of the Most High,
Shall abide and dwell in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say this about the Lord—
He is my refuge and tower,
My God, in whom I trust.
He delivers me from the snare of the fowler,
And from the stench of plague.
He covers me with His feathered wings,
And under His wings I entrust myself.
His truth is my shield; His truth is my buckler.
No need to be fear the terrors of night,
Or the arrows of day,
Or the plague that walks in darkness,
Or the destruction that lays waste at noon.
A thousand may fall at your side,
Ten thousand may fall at your right,
But will it touch you? No.
With your own eyes you will see
The recompense of the wicked
Because you have made the Lord, my refuge,
Into your habitation.
No evil can get at you there,
And the plague cannot reach your dwelling.
He will entrust you to his angels,
To keep you in all your ways.
They will bear you up with their hands,
And prevent you from striking your foot on a stone.
You will walk by lions, and tread down the snakes,
The young lion you will trample,
You will crush the dragon’s head.
The one who sets his love upon me, says the Lord,
I will deliver that man.
I will set him on high
Because he knows my name.
He will call on me, and I will answer,
I will be with him in all trouble.
I will deliver him,
And I will honor him.
I will sate him with long life,
And I will show him my salvation.
Psalm 91
And so, gracious Father, we worship You now through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end, amen.
