Gregg Strawbridge, R.I.P.

Sharing Options

Gregg Strawbridge went to be with the Lord suddenly this last week, and we are lifting up his family in prayer, along with his church family—All Saints in Lancaster. Please be praying together with us that God would be much glorified in the aftermath of this great shock. Gregg was a much beloved husband, father, mentor, and pastor, and a long time friend to many of us in the CREC.

My friendship with Gregg goes back decades. We have played music together, debated theology together, worked on church polity together, and labored in the same vineyard together. He has now crossed the river before us, and as Christians we want to grieve as Christians. Our grief is the kind of grief you might see in airports, where people are lamenting the fact that they are going to miss someone for a season, but only for a season, and it will be some period of time before we will see them again.

Pastor, This is a distressing post and we do know as Christians that the Lord knows all the hairs on our heads.

Pastor Wilson, Thank you for this tribute. He spoke fondly of you and your time together including playing guitar at conferences in Lancaster years ago. I remember him debriefing me on an impromptu discussion you and he had with a now former credo baptist. He was impressed with your quick responses. I personally appreciated the dialogue at council last year between the two of you. It was pointed, clarifying, and showed the mutual respect you had for each other that was evident for those of us in the room. Continue to pray for us as we honor Gregg and worship… Read more »

I’m very thankful for Gregg’s ministry. His book on baptism helped me greatly and got my kids wet. And it’s a joyful thing to see a pastor end well. I just recently listened to a message of his on 1 Corinthians 15, and he confidently and joyfully proclaimed the reality of eternal life that he now enjoys.
