Looking Forward to Another Year of Thotwas

Sharing Options

Let’s pretend that you guys are stockholders, and I am giving you all a report, an end-of-year round up. How did Mablog do this year? More importantly, how did your stock perform relative to Mablog‘s performance? Well, the good news is that, since your current translucent stock was valued at the beginning of 2015 at $0.00, the last 12 months would have seen that value triple.

Coming up with blog ideas can be tough . . .
Coming up with blog ideas can be tough . . .

So, seriously . . .

The good news is that during 2015 we saw about 3 million visitors. The busiest day was on the Fourth of July, at which time my response to Matthew Vines, Time for a Little Q & A, received about 33,000 views.

The top five posts for the year were that one, followed by In Which I Paint with Some Bright Yellows, then by Tolle, Legit, and then by A Nine-Pound-Sledge in the Freezer, and On Why Christian Women are Prettier.

Out of the top five, the only one that didn’t have to do with the sexual revolution was the last one, and it was indirectly related. In that post, I licked my finger and tried to touch the eyeball of egalitarianism, which is the hidden envy driver in all of this foolishness.

Using another metric, the post that got the most comments was A Mound of Pink Cotton Balls. This too was a post on the sexual revolution.

As you can tell, the homosex rebellion is a significant topic of interest to Christians. The Western world has risen up, assumed its full indignity, and has demanded that all orgasms be without fruit (#1-3), and where fruit has been conceived, that we fund an industrial complex dedicated to killing the resultant children (#4).

Also of interest to many Christians is the possibility of reading prose about our higglety-pigglety times that actually communicates the depths of our gonadal insanities, and to each new outrage responds with a cogent Christian thotwa. You all are welcome. Come, have a seat. Nobody need know that you are a reader. It is not illegal yet. But if you work for a Respected Ministry, make sure you use your mobile device. Maybe in a bathroom stall.

The top tier of commenters this year were, in order, timothy, Mike Bull, Krychek_2, Jane Dunsworth, and BJ. Thanks to all of you.

Not counting sites like Facebook and Twitter, the two top referring sites to Blog and Mablog were Challies.com and TeamPyro.com. So a tip of my blog hat to them.

The top three countries represented were the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. We got visits from 206 countries in all, with one visit, one time, from Greenland, but I bet that was probably somebody killing time in the airport.

Well, at least the dividend ratio isn’t bad.

One question: why does it seem as if comments are disappearing from older posts? For example, your Pink Cotton Balls post doesn’t seem to have any reactions below, which I highly doubt was the case. Does Disqus discard defunct comments?

My assumption is that it’s a Disqus glitch. Sometimes the comments just don’t show up, but then they’re there a few minutes later.

That really isn’t a great rate of return, you know…But I’m ok with that, because I’m buying and holding for the long haul.

Can’t we see some pretty graphs about all of this? Letter kills, graphs are life. Or at least cool.

“Top tier” for number of comments? Lots of great commenters in this group, on Blog and Mablog, though it has to be said that Lady Dunsworth seems to demonstrate that “Wisdom is a woman”!
Happy New Year everyone!

It must be number. The comment quality ‘top tier’ includes EtR, katecho, BJ, Jane Dunsworth, and many others.

Luke 7:35
But wisdom is proved right by all her children.

Don’t worry Tim, Wisdom has her children, not unlike Sarah! You and I no doubt, will keep listening to those women! Happy New year bud!

Blog ideas? Really? I’d like to see you post on Paul and the Gift, or even blog through it. Love and judgment in Christendom. How Christians should approach death. Not just the death culture of the euthanasia crowd, but the inability to face death and futile treatment at all cost. The medicalisation of death. Cremation. How rich Western Christians should approach Christ’s warnings about wealth (we’ve heard enough from the Left but those warnings are there). A series on the fruit of the Spirit. Property rights, eminent domain, and what can be considered property proper. The importance of the story… Read more »

Check the archives on justice. There’s a ton there.

I’d be very interested to hear on the tribalism one as well. Not that any of your suggestions are bad ones (I’m guessing you’re joking about the diet one; if not, again, check the archives for Doug’s views on the place of food in the Christian life and community.)

Hi Jane, congrats on getting in the top commenters (not that I think you will necessarily be pleased about it), always good to hear some sense injected amongst the rabble. I read the disgraced Justice Primer. It was excellent. But given that it is no longer available it would be useful to include some of the stuff here (correctly attributed). I have been reading Doug for a few years including more than a dozen of his books. I probably should go back thru some of his archives. Yeah, I slipped that food one in for his amusement. However, I see… Read more »

Check the “Creation and Food” tag for a fair amount of discussion of that.

Also, I have it on good authority that the Wilson contribution to the “Justice Primer” was all previously posted on this blog in one form or another. I wouldn’t know where to direct you, though.

There’s probably an appropriate response to Doug’s citation of me and your notice of it, but I haven’t figured out what it is, so just picture me blushing and remaining silent on that point. ;)

Lady Dunsworth, your logic is far more clear and direct than mine. That’s what I like about you. Seems to me like your clarity is a gift. ; – )

There’s a tag for the justice primer posts: https://dougwils.com/tag/c76-a-justice-primer

And here’s creation and food: https://dougwils.com/tag/c123-creation-and-food (which, D.v., will be out in book form this year).

Thanks Valerie. I have read the justice book. I just want more of it. As to the food issue, I have read a lot of those posts but there have been less of them recently. I am going to reread a few for my enjoyment but I note that Doug takes on the fellowship issue (which is important). I haven’t found much talking about whether such beliefs derive from an anti-Christian perspective thus is a danger for Christians who subscribe to it. But seeing as you are on the inside, any chance of you getting Doug to publish other blog… Read more »

33,000 views was the most? If we bring in a church marketing strategist, we can triple those numbers!
Couse, we need to keep it popular enough people notice, but not so popular that there are court injunctions against it, or that it gets outlawed in France.

Is this now all the part when we all argue about who gets to sit at the right side of mablog? Who’s comment is greatest?!

” Luke 9
46 An argument started among the disciples as to which of them would be the greatest. 47 Jesus, knowing their thoughts, took a little child and had him stand beside him. 48 Then he said to them, “Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest.”
