My daughter’s grandmother is still offended that when she played a participant in a movie version of the National Spelling Bee, the script required her to misspell a word so that the heroine could win! Her word was “antimithridatism”. She should instead have been pleased that her granddaughter learned to pronounce it.
Was she in “Akeelah”?
Yes,she played Mary Calvaretti, the snooty one who has to go down in flames so that Akeelah can win!
Took me a couple of go arounds to figure out that it was your daughter who was in the movie, and not her grandmother. I was thinking, “How could she possibly have been young enough”?
Slow I am.
When my 13 year old daughter was told why the director chose her among the hundreds being considered, she was crushed. She still says it’s the worst thing anybody has ever said about her. This horrifying insult was…”we needed a girl who looked both nervous and intelligent.”
I remember one of her constant laments was, “Why do I have to look intelligent, Mum? No one’s ever said that YOU look intelligent!”
Same here!
She needs to get her pic up on IMDB! I found an excellent shot of her that would be perfect.
Good grief. Just put your foot on the brake. :-)
Is the “David” post satire? I couldn’t confirm it via quick google?
What an interesting world we live in such that you cannot tell.
(I suspect satire).
