Any tips on how to change one’s avatar? Mine seems to have morphed into a swastika.

Log in using a platform where you have another avatar.

Or just give up and join the Nazi party.

I think that your $1 ebooks need a little more information. Some are of a decent length and others a little brief. 3 chains should be an appendix to condemnation for example.

Can you include a page count or a word count in the description?

You mention that alogos means without reasoning. It is not clear whether this means lack of reason (as per Acts example) or inability to reason like the animals (Peter, Jude), or perhaps refusal to reason; though I am probably making distinctions that are not there, at least for native speakers. James Spiegel makes this point in his book about atheism being a moral problem, a topic I have become increasingly interested in. I think that those who actively reject God become increasingly unable to reason rightly. They are more susceptible to believing false premises, but I think also more susceptible… Read more »

Bethyada, that is interesting. Does the premise that rejection of belief in God leads to diminution of reason apply in all rational endeavors–for example, math or engineering–or only to those involving moral philosophy and perhaps the soft sciences? I can see the latter but not the former. I think such a relationship would be difficult to establish. And would it include theism that features beliefs about God which we consider wrong? For example, would a devout Hindu scientist have greater rationality than an atheistic physicist? I read what I could find about James Spiegel’s work. It’s true, I think, that… Read more »

First, there is not much evidence that nonbelievers are greater sexual sinners than theists in general… Say what? Was it theists who foisted the sexual revolution on us in the ’60s, thereby giving rise to the loudmouthed alphabet soup of sexual deviancy that plagues us now? Speaking of that putrid alphabet soup, is it theists who relentlessly pushed the abominable sin of homosexuality on Western civilization, and managed to un-define marriage for an entire culture? Is it theists who are now pushing the even crazier and anti-scientific “transgenderism” on the populace? Is it theists who bully into silence those who… Read more »

Hi FP, I worded my post poorly. I was not clear that I was writing about studies on the private sexual lives of atheists compared to theists, not about the impact of atheist sexual morality in general. I checked again, and I read that Christians and atheists are equally likely to have abortions. One would have expected that atheists would have a higher rate. Gallup polls have found that people who identify as LGBT are significantly less religious than those who don’t. But, after that, most of the available evidence goes the other way. Atheists have much lower divorce rates… Read more »

Thou hast done a grave disservice to the Queen by mangling her English with your poorly worded prose.

@Jill Smith Does the premise that rejection of belief in God leads to diminution of reason apply in all rational endeavors I suspect so. But… It depends on where we are at and where we are going, as in all things. So it is easier to unbelieve some things more than others. So I suspect that belief about morals may depend a little on what you want to transgress. You could be a libertine in one area and a Pharisee in another. Justifying all kinds of evil on one hand and condemning the minorist of sins. I also think that… Read more »

But I was troubled by the idea that immorality, particular sexual sin, is the gateway for disbelief. First, there is not much evidence that nonbelievers are greater sexual sinners than theists in general, and secondly, it assumes a premise that the evidence for God is so overwhelming that only those hardened by sin can reject it. Well I think sexual sin is a gateway. And I suspect if you ask around people can give examples. Second, I think there is evidence that believers sin less. All the stats I see fail to address basic distinctions. But when you look at… Read more »
