I don’t remember where, but something you wrote about not apologizing stuck with me a while back. It made it into a story I was telling my kids, and in a rhyme so they would remember it:
Lies for means, poison for ends:
False apologies make false friends.

Perhaps one could use the “Four approaches to Race, Politics and Gender” as a quick way to assess a possible church home before even wasting one’s time attending. Write it up as a multiple choice quiz and have pastors fill it out with the answer that most closely resembles his thoughts about the given issue. Easy way to weed out most of them. And if the pastor is unwilling to answer because he says his thoughts are still more nuanced than any of the given choices, which I can imagine some might, one could probably safely cross that church off… Read more »
I don’t know. A person might observe and ask questions, and then use it as a tool to make their own assessment. However, if the pastor consented to answer a multiple choice quiz upon the demand of someone not even yet a member of the congregation, *that* might ought to eliminate the church from consideration.
