Well, we are two days away from the Dawn of the Shining One, and so my thoughts have turned naturally to the coming wahoo! stimulus package, that fiscal hot air balloon with a diameter of about two miles and counting. We are talking about about a lot of money . . . actually make that a lot of unmoney, since it will be mostly made up out of nothing at the front end, while it is being given to people. It will turn into real money later on, when it is being taken back from us in order to, lo and ahem, pay for everything.
We are talking about a lot of money, about three kazillion or so. If you were to put the whole thing into ten dollar bills, and stacked it all up, it would reach from here to the moon and back again three times. Is that even true? How would I know? Still, you get the drift . . . lotsa money.
Of course I am opposed to the whole deal, and for many reasons. But the simplest reason can be summarized this way. I don’t think we have any business spending that much money unless we have an exit strategy.
