The Truth With Dyslexia

“But a lousy education need not be a cheap education. Critics of the government schools know it is not possible to criticize them without hearing the reply that the problem is lack of funding. But this is htrut — the truth with dyslexia. The current expenditure per pupil in average daily attendance in public elementary and secondary schools (1999-2000) was $7,086. In adjusted dollars, the expenditure for 1961-62 was $2,360. While we are at it, to illustrate another problem we have the dishonesty of inflation. In unadjusted dollars the cost per pupil in 1961 was $419. Put simply, we are spending three times as much per pupil in constant dollars as we were then, and we are getting far, far less for all that extra money” (The Case for Classical Christian Education, p. 24).
