The Great Transaction

Sharing Options

The two times the word hamartia appears in 2 Corinthians it is in that great passage talking about the great transaction that occurred on the cross. “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” (5:21). Christ knew no sin — He never sinned, He was not a sinner. But the one who was not a sinner became sinful — full of sin that was not His own until He made it His own. And He bestowed on us a righteousness that was not our own until He made it ours on the cross.
