Stay Tuned for the Logrolling

So, then, Romney won in Michigan. All we need now is for Thompson to win in South Carolina on Saturday, and we will have ourselves an interesting race. If Ron Paul keeps coming in with his significant percentages, and as the other candidates approach the convention, nobody will be in a position to blow the Paulites off. It will be interesting to see what kind of deals might be brokered. And if anybody says that Paul is too much of a purist for that kind of logrolling, just take a look at the relationship of The Daily Paul and Martin Luther King. Logs will be rolled.

The other thing to keep in mind is money. Romney has money, and I think can get some more. Ron Paul has money, and can go to the convention. The others don’t really have the resources in hand — so they don’t just need a streak of wins in the primaries in order to obtain delegates, they also need to use the momentum from a series of wins (i.e. more than one in a row), in order to persuade donors to cough up. And they need that simply to function in the next primary. A number of them started driving across something like three South Dakotas without enough gas in the car to make it, on the supposition that they would be able to find a gas station — and would be able to pay for gas if they did.
