Father, we confess that holiness or separation from the mundane is an inescapable concept, and if we don’t accept the gift of Your holiness, we will attempt to manufacture our own. We confess that we have attempted to create our own forms of exceptionalism, and we confess how wrongheaded that is.
We know, Father, that if we in the Church regard iniquity in our own midst, or in our own hearts, this prayer will be ineffectual.
Father, You chose us to be holy and without blame before You, and we confess that we have neglected this in shameful ways. We ask You now to restore a tender conscience to Your Church, and we know that this is a request that pleases You.
Father, we confess our own sins to You now—and Selah . . . We do this in the strong name of Jesus, and amen.
You have confessed your sins as God has invited you to do. As a minister of Jesus, I now declare to you that your sins are forgiven through Christ
Congregation: Thanks be to God!
