Pursuit of Vanity

“At thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore” (Ps. 16: 11)

Growing Dominion, Part 127

“The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death” (Prov. 21:6).

Christians know that lying is bad, and that this means lying in business is bad. It does not matter if the lying is called advertising or marketing, it is still sinful. But the point being made here is a different one. Of course lying is sinful and wicked, but here the acquisition of wealth by means of lying is called vain. Those who pursue wealth in this way are tossed back and forth in a turbulent way as they seek the end of their endeavors, which is death. Those who seek wealth by lies seek death in truth.
