In the video clip below (4:19), I am asked why I don’t preach in a white robe. In the course of that answer, I forgot to mention a few things. First, I do have a robe that I wear for academic events at NSA — a black Geneva gown. Sometimes when I do weddings I will wear that, according to the wishes of the couple being married. One time Peter Leithart and I performed a wedding jointly, he in a white robe and I in my black one. I said that he could be imputed righteousness and I would be total depravity. And I have a friend, a true son of the covenanters, who gives me some good natured grief whenever I wear a robe for a wedding. I tell him that I enjoy wearing my John Knox outfit from time to time.
