“At thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore” (Ps. 16: 11)
Growing Dominion, Part 120
“There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel” (Prov. 20:15).
This is the verse that requires—for all who would prosper in business—spread sheets, financial reports, budgets, and so on. Information is gold. Those who fly blind are sometimes fortunate, and do not plow into a mountain. But that is still not the way to do it. I said that information is gold, which is not necessarily the same thing as saying that mountains of data are gold. But actually, they are gold—useless gold, unmined gold. Every merchant and businessman should be able to say (in short order, if asked), we were at this place, we are here now, and sane, conservative projections put us there a year from now. This should not be blue sky wishful thinking, but rather a careful extraction of the information he needs.
