Gorilla Poets

Okay, so here is some exciting news, but a little back story is required. Not only a back story, but lots of links for you to click, each one of them like a little cupboard that takes you to a different world.

Many of you know that Nate’s book Notes from the Tilt-a-Whirl had an accompanying DVD. His second non-fiction book, Death By Living, is due out in the spring. It will possibly have an accompanying DVD, and on top of that, there will be an accompanying album of all original songs that could be part of the soundtrack for the film.

With me so far? Well, the first single from that tie-in album has just been released today on NoiseTrade, and you can see it on their front page as a New and Notable release. You can go check there if you like, just to make sure I am not making things up. But the direct link to the song is here.
The artist is more difficult to describe. The Gorilla Poets can best be described as a transcontinental parliament of gorillas and poets, but not so simian and not so poetic that they were incapable of having a Facebook page. Their Facebook page is here. The credits should be apportioned as follows. The lyrics were written by Nate and Aaron Rench, Aaron Rench wrote the music, the vocals and acoustic guitar by another Moscow alum Jared Dunn, and the talented Eli Beaird played on, produced and mixed the song.

Hope you enjoy. Here are the lyrics.

Grace Hurts Harder

Took a drive in the car to visit the house of sorrows
but the woman at the door said maybe come back tomorrow
rustle some feathers
shake of the weather
turn up the trouble
make it a double

in the middle of the flood, a dove
in the fires there was a yell
drink the shame but taste the love
only grace hurts harder than hell

Took a ladder up a tree just to claim my grief
but the man with the nails, He called me a thief
the curtain was torn,
you’re asleep till you’re born
now there’s mud on your eyes
and blood on your lies

in the middle of the flood, a dove
in the fires there was a yell
drink the shame but taste the love
only grace hurts harder than hell
only grace hurts harder than hell

in the middle of the flood, a dove
in the fires there was a yell
drink His shame but taste the love
only grace hits harder than hell
only grace hits harder than hell
