Father, we know that when we hear that Jesus is both Lord and Christ, this knowledge should cause us to be cut to the heart. We confess that our nation is not in fact cut to the heart, and so the reason must be that they have not heard that Jesus Christ has been established as both Lord and Christ. Not having Him as our Lord means that we have sought out gods many and lords many. Forgive us for this evil, we pray.
We know, Father, that if we in the Church regard iniquity in our own midst, or in our own hearts, this prayer will be ineffectual.
Father in Heaven, we know that the people of our nation cannot hear about these things without a preacher, and we confess that we have not trained and laid hands on enough capable and Spirit-filled men to accomplish this great and necessary task. Forgive us, we pray.
Father, we confess our individual sins to You now, and Selah . . . we do this in the great name of our Savior, Jesus Christ. And amen.
God has exalted Jesus to the place where He may grant repentance and forgiveness. This Lord Jesus has heard your prayer, and has seen your heart. He knows that your plea contains nothing in it but His blood, and so on that basis I declare to you that your sins are forgiven through Christ.
