“At thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore” (Ps. 16: 11)
Growing Dominion, Part 123
“Man’s goings are of the Lord; how can a man then understand his own way?” (Prov. 20:24).
This proverb relates to business directly. The apostle James says that it is arrogance and pride to say that we are going to go to this or that place, do business, and make money. Instead, we ought to say that we will do these things if the Lord wills. Our lives, and therefore the business of our lives, are a mist. We do not know what will happen tomorrow. But we do know that whatever happens tomorrow is “of the Lord.” We cannot understand it.
Another way of putting this is that man proposes, God disposes. Our lives are in His hands totally and completely. How many things could intervene in our lives by tomorrow morning that would blow all our plans sideways? Health issues, death, stock market collapse, downsizing, and more. This means that our first order of priority is to configure our lives and our work in such a way as to demonstrate that we are actively seeking the blessing of God. God works in our lives, and He blesses, and He chastises. Our business is to pursue the blessing that is in His right hand.
