Confessing Our Slavery

Sharing Options

Our Father and God, You have established Your Church as a royal priesthood in this world, and so we intercede for the nations of men now, confessing on their behalf so that the grace of Your forgiveness will soon be extended to them all.

Father, we confess to You on behalf of our sorry nation now. We know that because

we have sought out the pretence of freedom, thinking that it meant freedom to sin individually, we have become corporate slaves. Because we have not been faithful and loyal in the smaller societies You have placed us in, we have destroyed one of the great bulwarks against tyranny. And because of this, we find ourselves in the situation we are now in.

We know, Father, that if we in the Church regard iniquity in our own midst, or in our own hearts, this prayer will be ineffectual. Father, we confess to You now that we have not been diligent sons and daughters, we have not been faithful husbands and wives, and we have not been conscientious members of churches. We as Christians have not been the way we ought to have been, and so we were not used by You to restrain the great apostasy that is now occurring in our broader culture.

And Father, we now confess any individual sins to You—and Selah . . . We do this in the strong name of Jesus, and amen.

God delights to receive sinners in the name of Jesus. You have come to Him now, and so I declare that your sins are forgiven through Christ.

Congregation: Thanks be to God!
