Come now certain pesky scientists who have shown that organic food isn’t any more nutritional than the kind that has had the bugs sprayed off (HT: Joe Rigney).
But all is not lost. We can still feel superior, which is the thing we are fundamentally hungry for. Organic food production is much better on the climate change front, which, come to think of it . . . 1. we don’t know is happening anyway; 2. we don’t know we are causing it even if it is happening; 3. we don’t know we can do anything about it even if we are causing it; and 4. we don’t know that it is a bad thing, or that we ought to be doing anything about it, even if we are causing it. But organic farming is helping fight that climate change battle anyway, and yay for our team.
What all this amounts to is that fresh corn tastes better than canned corn, and who knew? So if you want to pay extra for that, great. Be our guest. But quit acting like it is a “conscience and responsibility” thing, because canned corn is nutritionally better than no corn.
Unless you are a gourmand with a social conscience and an itch to boss people around.
