Error as a Judicial Stroke from God

“Only from what is said, we may see that the Lord has a just hand in the overruling of such delusions; and also, that they cannot but be strong and successful which are guided so, as to be executioners of his justice. This also may make men tremble the more, considering that the opening up of sluces to let in the spate of delusion is no less God’s judgment, and no less to be feared, than the sending of sword or pestilence, or the opening up the fountains of the great depths, to let in a deluge upon the earth. And were men so looking on it, and affected with it, it might possibly be much more bounded” (Durham, p. 146).
