Dear visionaries,
Carl chides my two friends for pointing out the inconsistency of an inclusivist group excluding people. But his chiding misses the point. We certainly do not object to liberals, progressives, socialists, or whoever, all deciding to build their own tree fort, and establishing the rules for admittance. As was pointed out by Carl, this is the way the world is. Not only did Carl point it out, we have pointed out the same thing repeatedly. We do this. And you do this. We all do this. The only thing we do not like is the name you give to your tree fort — the All-Inclusive-Leave-No-One-Behind-Come-One-Come-All Tree Fort. And your propensity for saying that anyone who doesn’t have a tree fort named just like yours is probably a BIGOT, and is unwelcome at your tree fort (where all are welcome).
Cordially,
Douglas Wilson
“Apologetics in the Void” are repostings from an on-going electronic discussion and debate I had some time ago with members of our local community, whose names I have changed. The list serve is called Vision 20/20, and hence the name “visionaries.” Reading just these posts probably feels like listening to one half of a phone conversation, but I don’t feel at liberty to publish what others have written. But I have been editing these posts (lightly) with intelligibility in mind.
